Reynolds American Paying Attention on Smokeless Tobacco Products
Reynolds American is confident that smokeless tobacco products will increase its net profit by approximately 30%, according to the Winston-Salem Journal study. Company’s CEO Daniel Delen presented several details during a recent press conference with tobacco analysts, where he said that the company would present smoking products in vapor as for instance electronic cigarettes, nicotine smokes as lozenges and other nicotine replacement items within half a year.
Pat Shehan, owner of the Tarheel Tobacco, declared that the company has restricted the launch of Vuse e-cigarette brand, in addition to Viceroy brand , smokeless pouches. While Reynolds is not divulging about its product till now, Shehan declared that the brands can be already purchased upon request at his stores. “As they have requested me not to display the new products, the pain part of sales has come to Reynolds workers. However the news about new products is out there,” stated Shehan. Delene stated that Reynolds sees smokeless tobacco as the new step in the company’s becoming “a whole tobacco company… We are producing a wide range of smoking products at various price points, in line with differing trends in demands of adult cigarette consumers and in social expectations.”
Other smokeless products include Camel Crush and Camel Snus, dissolvable Camel and other chew sticks. “In conformity with our long-term strategy to change the tobacco industry and decrease the injury caused by smoking, our employees have been doing their best in developing a range of new smokeless and other product innovation,” stated Delen. Stores face the benefits of smokeless tobacco products, too, with, more store owners allowing more shelf space to these products. “You are facing more smokeless products sold in stores as there is a growing demand for it, mostly because of the stigma related to cigarettes or requirements where you can’t light up in particular places,” stated Jeff Lenard, NACS representative.“Currently it is not known who purchases these smokeless products, and what the possible liability is. There is some difficulty with retailers considering what works better for their stores, but I hope you will see something more settled with time,” stated Lenard.
