A truly amazing picture of Madonna lying totally naked on a bed while smoking a cigarette has sold for about £15,000. This amount is three times the estimate offered for the picture that was taken in 1990 during those times when the singer had blond hair and dark eye make-up.

It is a black and white photo and Madonna has her breast uncovered and just a white sheet covers the most intimate part while she lies on a bed. The famous singer is holding a cigarette near her pouting lips and has a very sexy and attractive pose. During the year the picture was taken, Madonna went on her greatest “'Blond Ambition Tour”.

The singer said at the time, when she was 31 years old: “I understand that I am not the best singer and I perfectly know that I am not the best dancer. But at the same time I know that I can push people’s buttons and compel as much attention I want. The tour’s aim is to break all taboos.”

The picture was taken by the famous star photographer Steven Meisel and was bought by an anonymous collector. It had the following dimensions: 21.5 inches by 19 inches and according to a reliable source was bought by the vendor from a well-known New York gallery. The picture, which was taken by the same photographer who did the image for Madonna’s 1992 best selling book “Sex”, was sold by Bonhams in New York. “It is a really amazing picture and it has a very nice grey tone. It is not just regular black and white it has pleasant grey and silvery undertones,” Judith Eurich, representative of the saleroom said.

Madonna was posing for a great number of photographers and the time this was shoot in the 1990s when she was 30 years old. At those times she was going through a phase of having blonde hair and dark eye make-up that made her look dramatic and provocative – and her body is gorgeous. “Madonna is a very healthy person and I think that the cigarette is just an object to make her look sexier and seductive,” said Mrs. Eurich.

The price paid for Madonna’s picture was $23,750.
